I’m back after a brief computer nightmare

April 23, 2011

Several days ago I had a serious computer problem that forced me to bring my desktop system to the shop for diagnostics. Apparently a chip on one of the boards went bad and this caused a chain reaction resulting in a hole in the fabric of space time. I apologize to everyone for being away and not returning emails promptly. I was accessing Webmail on my wife’s laptop for the past few days and that antiquated machine is as slow as molasses.

Four days and $1,197 dollars later I’m back! Miss me?

I feel for you! It’s a case of been there, done that for me too! Computers are great when they are working properly, but boy when you have issues go wrong it is usually catastrophic and totally unproductive. My hard drive decided it was going to crash on me all of a sudden, and my computer was only 6 months old. It was a massive task in the first place, transferring everything from my old computer to the new one. So long story short, it didn’t cost me any actual dollars since it was covered by warranty, but I had 2 days without any computer, and spent the next 3 loading all my programs back on and the files I had backed up with previous week. So all in all I estimate it cost me $1,000 + in lost productivity.

Hope the $1,197 was for lost productivity and not what they charged you to fix your computers!
